About these terms
These terms govern your use of the Project Index website, contractor-rate benchmarks, calculators, comparison tools, rate-submission forms and alert registrations. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Project Index may update these terms as the service changes. The version displayed on this page applies from its stated revision date.
Indicative information only
All rates, ranges, demand indicators, regional adjustments, experience bands, comparisons and trends are indicative market intelligence. They are not a quote, guarantee of earnings, promise of work or statement that a particular engagement will be available at the displayed rate.
Market outcomes depend on role scope, skills, security clearance, location, sector, shift pattern, contract length, supply and demand, IR35 status and individual negotiation. You should independently check information before relying on it for a commercial decision.
Calculators and take-home estimates
Calculators provide planning estimates only. They are not tax, legal, employment, recruitment, accounting or financial advice. Permanent-equivalent results use stated assumptions for holiday, pension, employer costs and benefits; they do not establish that a contract and salary are economically equivalent.
Take-home figures use the simplified assumptions shown beside each result. Actual tax and net income depend on engagement structure, tax position, company costs, umbrella fees, expenses, pension, student loans, benefits and individual circumstances. Obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting.
Your submissions
You may submit a current contractor rate only where you are entitled to share it. Do not submit names, contact details, confidential client information, trade secrets, unlawful content or misleading data. You confirm that information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
You grant Project Index a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to store, clean, analyse, combine, adapt and use submitted market data to create aggregated benchmarks, trends, research and related commercial products. We will handle personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service unlawfully, fraudulently or to harm another person.
- Do not submit fabricated data, interfere with benchmark integrity, impersonate another person or attempt to gain unauthorised access.
- Do not scrape, systematically extract, republish, resell or build a competing dataset from Project Index content without written permission.
- Do not introduce malware, overload the service, bypass security controls or misuse alerts and forms.
Intellectual property
Project Index owns or licenses the website design, branding, written content, methodology, curated datasets, benchmark presentation and software. These materials are protected by intellectual-property laws.
You may view the site and share links or short extracts for personal, non-commercial purposes with clear attribution. No other right is granted. Third-party names and marks remain the property of their owners.
Alerts and external opportunities
Registering for alerts does not guarantee that messages, vacancies or contracts will be sent. Project Index may change, suspend or discontinue an alert service. Any vacancy or third-party service is controlled by its provider; Project Index is not the employer, agency or contracting party unless expressly stated.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Project Index useful and current, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, freedom from errors, or that every benchmark is complete or current. We may add, remove, correct or change content and features without notice, including where source information changes.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Project Index is not liable for loss arising from reliance on indicative benchmarks or calculations, loss of income, opportunity, profit, business, data or reputation, or indirect or consequential loss. If you use the service for business purposes, it is supplied without implied warranties to the extent permitted by law.
Suspension and termination
We may restrict or end access where reasonably necessary to protect the service, enforce these terms, investigate misuse or comply with law. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including intellectual property, licence, disclaimers and liability terms—survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK may also rely on mandatory rights and bring proceedings in their local courts where the law allows.
If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. To contact Project Index about these terms, use the official contact details published on this website.
